COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

I started writing computer applications about 5 years ago for one of my friends how owned a restaurant. I surprised him with a personnel scheduling application one day and that changed his life.

The first version was written in Dbase 3 and included a user friendly interface. The application was able to compare the actual personnel cost with the standard as well as the number of hours and days a person was scheduled. It showed when an employee needed to start on any particular day in the week. The application was highly customized to be used in an easy to use environment.

Before I started writing the second version of the application, the employer tried to find a comparable application on the market, but acknowledged that all these software packages were to complicated and expensive for his business. Therefore he invited me to write the new version of the application

The second version of Plan Manager is written at this time due to the problems with Y2K. This time the application is created in MS Access. The need for cost control seems not to be a major issue for the employer and therefore in the second version there is chosen for a more user friendly interface over more functionality. Also the output possibilities are less complicated and therefore easier to use.
